Who StageCut is for

Why we built it for more than one band

Most of us play in more than one band.

Your drummer has a Friday project. Your bass player subs for two other groups. Half of a new band came out of an old one. That's how working musicians actually live, and we built StageCut around it instead of pretending everyone is in exactly one band.

  • Lead one band, play in another. Your role is set per band. Run your own group and still be a member somewhere else, from the same account.
  • Add a band in a minute. Start a new project, or a new band built from people you already play with, without starting over.
  • One calendar across all of them. The Master Calendar puts every band's gigs on one page and flags the days two of them overlap, so a double booking shows up before you take it.
  • One plan, as many bands as you want. Seats are counted per person, not per band. Other apps charge you again for every band; StageCut doesn't.

Free to try. Your band never pays.

  • Your first three gigs cost nothing.
  • Members never pay. Your players join free and see only their own cut.
  • As many bands as you want. One plan covers every band you lead; seats are counted per person, not per band.
  • The app is open now on the web. Android and iPhone coming soon. One account works everywhere.

Common questions

StageCut in a nutshell

What is StageCut?

StageCut is a gig calendar and pay-split app for working musicians: bands, solo and duo acts, karaoke hosts, DJs and sound engineers. Every gig goes on one calendar with its venue, client, times, load-in and soundcheck. When the gig pays, StageCut works out everyone's cut to the cent by your band's own rules: mileage and gig costs first, a band fund if you keep one, flat pay for a sub, anything you hold back. Then it keeps track of who's been paid and who's still owed.

How much does StageCut cost?

Your first three gigs are free. After that, a Band Sync plan covers every gig and puts your members on their own phones. Every plan starts with a 3-day free trial.

Do my band members have to pay?

No. The leader's plan covers the band, and each active member uses one seat. Members make a free account to join. They see the band calendar, their own gigs and their own Total Paid, not the gross, the band's costs or anyone else's pay.

I play in more than one band. Does StageCut handle that?

Yes. Your role is set per band, so you can lead one band and be a member of another from the same account. The Master Calendar puts every band's gigs on one page and flags the days two of them overlap. One plan covers every band you lead, because seats are counted per person, not per band.

Does it work on iPhone, Android and the web?

The app is open now on the web. Android and iPhone coming soon. One StageCut account works on every platform. On the phone apps your band stays on your phone and works offline until you turn on Band Sync. See where to get it.

What is StageCut Live?

StageCut Live is the free public map at stagemaps.net where people find live bands, solo and acoustic sets, karaoke and DJ nights near them. A band leader turns on Show on StageCut Live for each gig they want listed. The map shows the act's name, the venue and its address, the date and the start time, with Google Maps and Apple Maps directions. Your pay, members and notes are never shown, and a gig stays off the map until you turn it on.

Does StageCut help at tax time?

It keeps the numbers your accountant asks for. The Year-End report shows each member's paid, owed, withheld and net totals, with mileage and the band's annual summary, as a PDF you can run any day of the year. You can mark which members get a 1099, and band expenses are tracked by category. StageCut keeps records; it isn't tax advice.

Can I try it without signing up?

Yes. The free gig rate calculator and pay-split calculator use the app's own math, run in your browser with no account, and send nothing anywhere.
